Tinubu blames Abuja, Oyo, Anambra stampedes on organisers’ error

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the stampedes in Abuja, Oyo, and Anambra states as grave errors on the part of the organisers.

Tinubu made this disclosure during his first media chat since his inauguration last year.

According to him, while the organisers of the food distribution had good intentions, the unfortunate events led to the loss of lives.

The president emphasised the need for a more organised and effective food distribution mechanism.

“If you know you don’t have enough to give, do not attempt to publicise it. Every society has its share of angry people. There are food banks, but unfortunately, the stampedes occurred. It is a very grave error on the part of the organisers,” Tinubu stated.

Media Talk Africa reports that over the weekend, several people lost their lives in food distribution stampedes across multiple states.
