Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has urged his supporters to remain calm following recent political rhetoric from certain quarters, assuring them that the time for active politicking is yet to come.
Fubara made this appeal during the 7th anniversary of the kingship installation of Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi, a politician-turned-traditional ruler of the Akoh people in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
The governor stated that, when the time is right, the people of the state will know the true state of affairs.
“Let’s ignore the noise some people are making. When the time is right, we will know who is who.
“So don’t worry about anything. It is God that has led us from that day till today, and each day we get stronger and stronger. It is only God.
“We are not achieving all this because of our strength or because we are boasting. It is because our strength is built in God. So, we don’t need to worry about what people are saying. Let the time come, and we will see how it will end,” he said.
Fubara attributed his survival of political challenges to divine providence, noting that his administration would continue to grow stronger despite the expectations of detractors.
The governor also urged the people of Akoh to embrace peace, emphasizing that development can only thrive in a harmonious environment.
“The most important thing is that we must ensure we live peacefully. Development cannot come to your kingdom, and development cannot come to the Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality without peace. There will be many attempts to bring disunity among you. Try as much as you can to avoid it.
“You know the mechanism of those people: ‘Divide and Rule.’ Try to avoid anything that will bring problems to this kingdom so that we can continue to show that we love you by ensuring we bring meaningful projects that will bring development to the Ekpeye people,” he added.
Governor Fubara also commended the traditional ruler for his support and contributions to the success of the administration.
