Nasarawa: New Year cash grant scam — Governor Sule warns

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has alerted the public to a fraudulent scheme claiming to offer a N50,000 New Year cash grant to Nigerians.

The governor described the scheme as a scam and urged citizens to avoid engaging with the fraudulent link.

A statement issued by the governor’s social media aide, Godwin Rimi, and made available to journalists warned the public against clicking on links or answering questions to access the purported grant.

“It is a scam. Do not click on the link,” Rimi stated. “There is no connection whatsoever between His Excellency, the Governor, or the Government of Nasarawa State and this scheme.”

The statement further cautioned Nigerians to delete any such messages and refrain from sharing them to protect themselves and others.

The governor stated the importance of vigilance, particularly as scammers often exploit the festive season to target unsuspecting individuals.

This warning follows similar alerts from authorities in other states, as cybercriminals continue to devise new methods to defraud the public.
