EPL: Liverpool’s trio Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, Salah free to talk to other clubs

The Liverpool trio of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are now free to negotiate with other clubs, as the January transfer window opens today.

The rules stipulate that footballers that are at least 23 years with six months or less left on their contracts, are able to speak with foreign clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement.

The agreement would see them join a new team a day after their deals expire.

Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold’s contracts with Liverpool are all set to end on the last official day of the 2024/2025 campaign, which falls on June 30.

Salah has been linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia and Paris Saint-Germain. And last weekend, he said he is still “far away” from resolving his future at Anfield.

Liverpool captain Van Dijk, 33, has rejected the club’s opening contract offer and confirmed in November that talks over extending his deal are ongoing.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, has attracted interest from Real Madrid and sources have told ESPN that Liverpool rejected an approach from the Spanish giants to sign the full-back on Tuesday.
