EPL: I’m not ready for talks – Arteta on two Arsenal players that can leave for free

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said he has no plans to begin contract talks with Thomas Partey or Jorginho.

The two midfielders have less than six months left on their current deals.

Partey has enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent weeks and has been utilised in midfield and at right-back, due to injuries suffered by Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Jorginho, meanwhile, has been used more sparingly by Arteta.

When asked if he was keen for both players to stay and commit their futures to the club, Arteta said: “What I can say is that it’s not about what I want, it’s about what those players have in their minds and their situations.

“I don’t want to start to have these conversations now, I want to have them much later because the focus now has to be what we have to do in the season.

“They can understand the intentions, and then we will see what we can do.”
