Bandits: We will get rid of criminal elements, end insecurity – Army speaks tough

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to eliminating criminal elements responsible for security breaches across the country.

Speaking to journalists during a visit to the military cantonment in Samaru, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday, General Musa assured Nigerians that the military remains resolute in its efforts to restore peace and stability.

“We are committed to ensuring that criminal elements causing insecurity are completely removed. Nigerians deserve to live in peace, and the armed forces will not relent until we achieve that,” he stated.

According to him, the visit to the Samaru military base was part of efforts to assess and enhance operational readiness in tackling insecurity in Southern Kaduna and its environs.

General Musa commended the troops for their professionalism and dedication, emphasizing that their welfare remains a top priority.

“Your sacrifices are not unnoticed. We are committed to improving your welfare and ensuring you have the tools and support needed to succeed in your duties,” he told the troops.

The Defence Chief also charged the soldiers to remain steadfast and professional, urging them to respect human rights while carrying out their responsibilities.

The commander of Operation Safe Haven and General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, also encouraged the troops to sustain their efforts in securing the region.

During the visit, the CDS and his entourage, including senior officers from Defence Headquarters, paid a courtesy call to the palace of the Chief of Kagoro, where General Musa reaffirmed the military’s commitment to fostering unity and security in the region.

Senator Sunday Marshal, representing Kaduna South, also commended the military’s efforts, assuring improved collaboration between the civilian populace and security forces.
