Akwa Ibom gets new Commissioner of Police

CP Baba Mohammed Azare has been deployed as the new Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State.

The Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John who revealed this in a statement in Uyo on Saturday, January 4, 2025, said Azare would be serving as the 34th Commissioner of Police in the state.

She said the new commissioner, an indigene of Azare Katagum LGA of Bauchi State, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Bayero University Kano, a Masters degree in Public Policy and Administration and another Masters degree in Crime Management, Prevention and Control, from the same institution.

The statement said that in 2023, CP Mohammed Azare was redeployed to Akwa Ibom State Command as the DC Operations where he served until his recent promotion to the rank of a Commissioner of Police in December 2024.

The PPRO added that Azare was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, and rose through the ranks.

“Some of the places he has served include all the major Departments of the Nigeria Police Force, such as Administration, Investigation, Operations and Specialised Units,” the statement added.
