The funeral procession for the 39th President of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter, has commenced in Georgia.
Carter’s funeral began with pallbearers from the US Secret Service carrying his coffin on Saturday.

His coffin also passed through his childhood home in Plains, Georgia, on its way to Atlanta.

A bell ceremony took place to honour the former president, ringing 39 times in recognition of the 39th US president.

Carter died at his home on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 100.

Following his demise, world leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, President-elect Donald Trump, and incumbent US President Joe Biden, among others, have mourned the late US leader.
