Transfer: Man Utd striker returns to join Amorim’s squad

Manchester United striker, Joe Hugill has returned to club after a six-month loan stint at English club, Wigan Athletic.

The 21-year-old netted five goals for the League One side during his time at the club.

He featured for Man United in their pre-season win over Rangers in Edinburgh, scoring the second goal in a 2-0 win.

Following the game, Hugill joined the Latics and was handed their no.9 shirt under manager Shaun Maloney.

Hugill scored in Wigan’s 2-1 defeat to promotion-chasing Wrexham in December.

The English footballer made 18 appearances for Wigan and has now returned to Carrington to continue his development at Man United under manager Ruben Amorim.

His recall clause was activated in the loan agreement.

However, it’s yet to be seen if Hugill would feature regularly for Amorim in the second half of the ongoing season.

Amorim’s side currently sit in the 13th position in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils have 23 points from 20 matches so far, ahead of their next Premier League tie with Southampton on January 16.
