TCN announces outage in Oyo over maintenance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced that there will be an electricity disruption in parts of Oyo State on Thursday.

TCN, in a statement by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this on Thursday.

According to TCN, the power disruption is due to preventive maintenance on the 150 megavolt-ampere 330/132/33 kilovolt transformer at the Ayede, Ibadan, transmission substation.

The power disruption is expected to last from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Thursday in areas serviced by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.

β€œThe Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announces that its maintenance crew will perform scheduled maintenance on one of its 150MVA 330/132/33kV power transformers at the Ayede Transmission Substation in Ibadan, which will take place today, Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 10 am to 6 pm.

β€œThis will cause an interruption of bulk power supply through the 150MVA power transformer to Ibadan DisCo.

β€œAs a result, IBEDC would be unable to offtake power from the feeders attached to the said transformer. Consequently, IBEDC will carry out load shedding in the following areas: Oluyole, Apata, Lanlate, Iyaganku, Liberty, Eleyele, Express, Industrial, and Interchange,” the statement reads.

Media Talk Africa reports that TCN recently announced a two-week outage in some parts of Abuja, Nasarawa State.

Also, the company on Tuesday announced another 24-hour outage in parts of Delta State.
