Transfer: Petit lists players Arsenal should sign this January

Former Arsenal midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, has noted that Mikel Arteta’s side needs to upgrade their squad in multiple positions during the January transfer window.

Other pundits and fans of the club have suggested Arsenal will need a new striker to push Liverpool for the Premier League title.

This season, Mikel Arteta has had the opportunity of playing either non-traditional centre-forwards Kai Havertz or Gabriel Jesus as number 9.

Petit believes that problems at Arsenal are more than the one that arises in the striking position, and he told DisCasino, “Arsenal don’t just need a striker. I think they needed at least three or four more players last summer.

“They need a left-winger, a striker & an attacking midfielder. This January market is tough, though. It will be very hard to find good opportunities to sign good players for a reasonable price.”

The Gunners have continued to be linked with a move for Athletic Bilbao winger, Nico Williams.

Arsenal have reportedly targeted the Spain international ever since he shone for his national team in the Euro 2024 championship.

Additionally, the former France international thinks that Arsenal need another attacking midfielder.

He is of the opinion that captain Martin Odegaard carries much of the creative burden for the team.
