Bundesliga: Boniface ruled out of Bayer Leverkusen clash with Borussia Dortmund

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has provided a fitness update on Victor Boniface ahead of his side’s Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Boniface has been sidelined since sustaining a thigh injury on international duty last November.
The 24-year-old reportedly returned to light training before Christmas but suffered a setback in his recovery process.

Alonso said it is important to be patient with the striker and offer him support.

“We were hoping that he would be back in training on January 2. That’s a shame,” he told the press on Thursday.

“We have to be patient so that he gets back to his best shape and we get a better feel for the injury. The most important thing now is that we support him.”
