Police arrest woman, accomplice for alleged abuse of stepdaughter

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has arrested a woman, Ihsanatu Shaaibu, and an unidentified accomplice for allegedly abusing a five-year-old girl, Fa’iza Bala, who is Shaaibu’s stepdaughter.

The arrest followed the circulation of a disturbing video on social media, which showed the extent of the injuries inflicted on the child. The video sparked public outrage and prompted swift action by the police.

The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrests in a statement posted on his verified social media accounts on Thursday night.

“In relation to the viral video where a woman identified as Ihsanatu Shaaibu physically abused and caused grievous injuries to her stepdaughter, Fa’iza Bala, a 5-year-old, the suspects have been arrested today, Thursday, 9th January 2025,” Adejobi said.

He assured the public that the suspects would face prosecution as soon as investigations are concluded, adding, “We will keep you abreast of the proceedings.”
