Transfer: Serie A clubs can’t afford Rashford – Cassano

Former Inter Milan forward Antonio Cassano has said that Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford’s huge yearly salary might prevent him from moving to Serie A.

The future of Rashford, the highest-earning player at Manchester United, has been a subject of speculation in recent weeks.

There are rumours of a crisis between the England international and head coach Ruben Amorim.

Rashford has been linked with numerous clubs across Europe, and Cassano feels that the England international’s reported €12 million per season salary could be a hindrance to him joining a Serie A side.

In an interview with Viva El Futbol, he said: “One and a half years ago, not three or five, he finished the season with 28 goals playing as an attacking winger.

“But something has broken at Manchester United, first with Ten Hag and especially with Amorim. The problem is that he earns €12m per season.

“Who can afford him in Italy? Nobody can. He would be fantastic for Milan and Juventus, but I don’t think he can join our league.”

Juventus and AC Milan have been linked with a reported move for the England international.

However, Cassano feels the Italian sides may not be able to pay his wages.

Rashford, who graduated from the Red Devils academy, has played 24 games across competitions for Ruben Amorim’s side this season, scoring seven goals and registering three assists.
