Super Eagles: Ikpeba rallies support for Eric Chelle

Former international, Victor Ikpeba, has asked for total support for newly-appointed Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle.

Chelle’s appointment has generated mixed reaction among pundits and fans.

Ikpeba, who is a member of the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said he is not surprised by the reaction the appointment has caused.

“The appointment of a coach for the Super Eagles will always generate a lot of interest,” the former Monaco forward told Brila FM.“

“This is one of the biggest countries in Africa and that’s the passion that comes around the national team.

“Even if we had appointed Pep Guardiola (Manchester City coach), there would be complaints.

“If there are no arguments , there won’t be success.”

Chelle is expected in Nigeria this weekend to sign his contract.

The 47-year-old will put pen to paper on a two-year contract.
