Transfer: Napoli in talks to sign Man Utd star as Kvaratskhelia’s replacement

Napoli have opened talks with Manchester United over a deal for their winger, Alejandro Garnacho amid the ongoing January transfer window.

The Serie A club have identified Garnacho as a direct replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Sky Sports Italy reports that initial talks over a potential transfer were held on Tuesday.

The report added that Man United are demanding a £70 million transfer fee for the Argentina international.

But Napoli consider Man United’s £70m asking price too high and the former Serie A champions are considering alternative options which include Timo Werner, who is currently on loan at Tottenham from RB Leipzig.

Napoli are already on the verge of selling Kvaratskhelia in a €70m deal to Paris Saint-Germain this month.

The Georgia international is set to undergo a medical with the French Ligue 1 champions.

Meanwhile, Garnacho still has over three years remaining on his current contract with Man United.

The 20-year-old has struggled to make an impact since Ruben Amorim took charge of the Red Devils last November.

Garnacho was dropped from Man United’s squad that defeated Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium last month.
