EPL: What Arteta told Rio Ferdinand about signing new striker for Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that the club is looking to bring in a new striker during the January transfer window.

Arteta made the remarks while speaking to Rio Ferdinand after Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The result leaves the Gunners four points behind leaders Liverpool, who still have a game in hand.

Son Heung-min gave Spurs the lead at the Emirates, but Arsenal equalized after the ball deflected off Dominic Solanke from a corner. Leandro Trossard then secured the win with a low drive.

Kai Havertz started as the focal point in Arsenal’s attack, alongside Trossard and Raheem Sterling, both of whom struggled to make a significant impact.

Arteta faces the challenge of closing the gap on Liverpool without key players Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, who are sidelined due to injuries. However, he has assured fans that the club is actively seeking reinforcements.

When asked about potential signings, Arteta said:

“We are going to try, for sure.

“We are actively looking. I think we have lost two very, very important players. We have 14 players in the squad, and we play every three days.

“We will try, but let’s see who we can get.”
