EPL: Arteta ready to sanction £83m move for Gyokores in January

Arsenal are ready to spend big on Viktor Gyokeres in January, with manager Mikel Arteta admitting the club is “actively looking” to strengthen their squad.

The Gunners’ squad has taken a major hit in recent weeks with a couple of important injuries.

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Ethan Nwaneri are all currently sidelined.

As a result, Arteta is hoping to add a new forward in the winter window.

L’Equipe reports Arsenal are “no longer reluctant to pay” Gyokeres’ €100million (£83m) release clause.

The Sporting striker has netted 32 goals in 30 games across all competitions.

The report also claims Arteta is also interested in Alexander Isak and Jonathan David, but neither Newcastle United or Lille are willing to sell this month.

However, Gyokeres’ situation is different due to his release clause.

The 26-year-old has already admitted he wants to play for “one of the best teams in Europe” soon.
