Transfer: Man Utd striker leaves Amorim’s side for another English club

Manchester United striker, Joe Hugill has left the club to join English club Carlisle United on loan for the remainder of the season.

Hugill had returned to Ruben Amorim’s side earlier this month after a six-month loan stint at Wigan Athletic.

The 21-year-old netted five goals for Wigan as he built on previous spells at Altrincham and Burton Albion, respectively.

He played for the Red Devils’ first team last summer, scoring the second goal in a 2-0 friendly win over Rangers in Edinburgh.

“Congratulations, Joe, and good luck in Cumbria,” Man United’s statement partly read on Friday.

Carlisle are currently 24th in League Two and seek to avoid relegation to the National League.

They are managed by former Newcastle United centre-back Mike Williamson

However, Hugill will link up with Academy alumni Callum Whelan, who has recently signed from Gateshead.
