Serie A: Okoye faces lengthy ban over betting scandal

Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, could be banned for up to four years if he is found guilty of illegal betting.

Okoye is under watch for betting on his own yellow card in a match against Lazio on March 11, 2024.

The 25-year-old is being investigated by the Udine Prosecutor’s Office for a flow of anomalous bets during the Lazio-Udinese match, according to Gazetta dello Sport.

The Nigeria international received a yellow card for time-wasting after 64 minutes.

Okoye went under the knife last November for a wrist injury and is yet to return to action.

Udinese recently signed Egil Selvik as a precautionary measure.
