Adamawa: Binani dismisses rumour of defection, says she remains in APC

The 2023 Adamawa State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Aishatu Ahmed, Binani, has dismissed recent rumours that she left the party.

Binani who contested in the 2023 governorship election while representing Adamawa Central Zone in the Senate, reaffirmed her loyalty to the APC.

At an event held in Yola, on Sunday, by one of her support groups, Binani debunked rumors suggesting she and her supporters had defected from the APC.

Speaking through her representative, Mijinyawa Kugama, during the inauguration of executives for the support group named Gladiators for Binani Only, Binani said, “We have not left the party. We are founding members of the APC, and no force, not even Jupiter, can compel us to abandon it.”

Binani expressed gratitude to her supporters for their commitment during the 2023 elections that helped her to do well against incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to whom she lost narrowly.

In his remark, Umar Mustapha, a prominent politician and associate of Binani, highlighted the importance of the Gladiators group in uniting Adamawa’s diverse ethnic communities.

He said the group is a key platform to build a formidable force ahead of the 2027 general elections, aimed at reclaiming Adamawa State from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

The founder of the Gladiators group and state Coordinator, Himaga Yayirus, reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring APC’s victory in the 2027 elections, commending Binani’s political ideals that prioritize alleviating poverty and empowering the less privileged.

Key executives of the Gladiators for Binani Only were inaugurated during the event, with Maryam Waziri as Secretary, Rhoda Nuhu as Women Leader, among others.
