Katsina Gov releases N3bn for community development program

EDITED-
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced the release of N3 billion to launch the Community Development Program (CDP) across all 361 electoral wards in the state.

The announcement was made during a two-day sensitization program for Local Government Chairmen at Comfort Hub Hotel, Kano.

In his keynote address, Governor Radda revealed plans to establish ward-level accounts, each funded with Ten Million Naira, to promote community ownership of local infrastructure projects.

He explained that existing television viewing centers would serve as coordinating offices for the initiative. Communities will be required to submit project proposals for funding approval.

“This program reflects our commitment to grassroots development and transparent governance,” Governor Radda stated. He also highlighted investments in agricultural sustainability, including the procurement of six tube well drilling machines and dredging equipment to support year-round farming activities.

The Governor assured community development committees of the government’s unwavering support through financial resources, technical expertise, and capacity-building opportunities.

He directed the creation of a bilingual website to document the history of the Community Development Program from its inception, ensuring the information is available in both English and Hausa for wider accessibility.
