NNL releases verdict on Rovers FC vs Abakaliki

The Nigeria National League, NNL has dismissed Rovers of Calabar’s petition seeking three points and three goals against Abakaliki FC in their matchday five fixture.

Rovers had alleged that Abakaliki FC fielded an unregistered player, Johnson Umeh but the NNL found that the allegation could not be proven beyond reasonable doubt.

Further investigation by the league body revealed the said player did not participate in the match, and his name was not found in the NNL registration portal.

The NNL imposed a fine of N500,000 on Abakaliki FC for undue interference by their chairman and officials in the technical areas during the match.

An additional fine of N500,000 was imposed for allowing an unauthorized person to wear their official jersey and enter the technical area.

Rovers FC and Abakaliki FC have 48 hours from the day of the notice to appeal the fine.
