EPL: ‘Should I have taken this job’ – Paul Merson says Amorim regretting joining Man United

Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has said that Ruben Amorim is regretting taking the Manchester United job.

The Portuguese replaced former Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag in the Red Devils dugout.

He has, however, endured a tough time at Old Trafford, guiding his new club to just four wins, including their 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday.

He has suffered six losses in 12 league matches this campaign.

Media Talk Africa reports that the young manager did well in Portugal as Sporting CP boss.

However, as Merson noted, he has come to one of the biggest clubs in the world though by far not the best team at the moment.

The 38-year-old is finding it hard and “the pressure’s on him,” Merson said on Sky Sports.

“I don’t see where this turns around.

“I think the manager will be sitting there deep down and thinking: ‘Should I have taken this job?’ He didn’t want to take it until the end of the season, and I think he’ll be sitting there now thinking: ‘I’m not sure I can do this job.’ I don’t think it’s just him.”

Before becoming the boss at Old Trafford, Amorim guided Sporting to five trophies.
