He was only invited – Police deny arresting Kano anti-corruption chairman, Muhuyi

The Nigeria Police have said contrary to reports of arrest making the rounds, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, the Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission in Kano State was only invited by the force and not arrested.

Media Talk Africa reports that Muhuyi was reported to have been arrested by operatives of the NPF on Saturday, over a petition against him.

But the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in a statement on Monday, that Muhuyi was invited to engage with police officials as part of due process in addressing allegations in the petition received.

“Given his role as a public servant and a respected individual within society, it is expected of Mr Muhuyi to cooperate with the police to ensure a proper investigation is carried out, rather than seeking to create media attention.

“Any assertion indicating that Mr Magaji was arrested is unfounded and misleading.

“We urge the media and general public to avoid disseminating misinformation that may cause unnecessary alarm or confusion”, the statement added.
