EPL: Sutton snubs Chelsea, names surprise team to finish in top four

Former Chelsea player, Chris Sutton, has predicted that the current squad will not finish in the Premier League top four this season

Instead, Sutton has backed Bournemouth to qualify for the Champions League.

The race to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League is incredibly close, although it is not just the usual suspects involved.

Liverpool and Arsenal are almost certain to finish in the first two positions.

This season’s surprise package Nottingham Forest are just behind on 44 points.

Manchester City and Newcastle both have 41 points, followed closely by Chelsea and Bournemouth on 40.

Chelsea began the weekend in the top four, but lost 3-1 at Manchester City, despite taking an early lead.

Enzo Maresca’s men were considered title contenders only last month, but have since embarked on a run of just one win in seven games.

When asked to predict the final top four (in order), Sutton told the It’s All Kicking Off! podcast: “Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Bournemouth.

“Bournemouth are one of the stories of the season. I don’t think anybody saw a 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Bournemouth are seventh now in the Premier League, absolutely flying.

“They’ve got so many injuries, imagine when they get the full team back!”
