AFCON 2025: Uganda can compete with Super Eagles – Cranes captain, Aucho

Uganda captain Khalid Aucho is optimistic that the Cranes will have a good outing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite the presence of big teams in their group.

Paul Put’s side are pitted in Group C with heavyweight Nigeria, North African powerhouse Tunisia, and regional rival Tanzania.

The Super Eagles have won the AFCON title three times, while Tunisia have claimed the trophy once.

The two teams are pundits’ favorites to secure the top two spots in the group.

Aucho, who plays for Tanzanian Premier League club Young Africans, however, said they can compete with the teams in their group.

“Being at AFCON means you’re strong enough to compete with any team. I know my boys and they will deliver. We want to make our fans happy,” he was quoted by fufa.co.ug.

Uganda will begin their campaign in Morocco 2025 against Tunisia on Tuesday, December 23.
