Max Air incident: Nigerian airspace very safe – NCAA assures

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has assured travellers that the nation’s airspace is safe.

The assurance became necessary following a recent incident involving an aircraft at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.

Media Talk Africa had reported that a Max Air aircraft lost its landing gear tyre during landing, leading to an incident on Wednesday.

Following the incident, the NCAA directed Max Air to suspend its domestic flight operations for three months.

And now, NCAA Acting Director-General, Captain Chris Najomo, returned with an assurance during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“The Nigerian airspace is very safe, I can assure you,” he said.

The Max Air incident occurred at about 10:57 pm after the aircraft arriving from Lagos lost its nose landing gear tyre during the landing process.

The management of Max Air has officially confirmed that one of its aircraft crashlanded at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport late Tuesday night

“We wish to inform the public that one of our aircraft experienced an incident upon landing in Kano yesterday,” Max Air said in a statement posted on its official X page on Wednesday
