UCL: Tella talks up Bayer Leverkusen win over Sparta Prague

Nathan Tella says Bayer Leverkusen can be satisfied with their performance in the UEFA Champions League clash with Sparta Prague.

Xabi Alonso’s side defeated their guests 2-0 at the Bay Arena on Wednesday night.

The comfortable victory confirmed the Bundesliga champions place in the Round of 16.

“We had to try a lot. We knew that it was in our hands, if we won, we will be in the top eight. I felt that we played good and created a lot of chances,” the Nigerian told the club’s official website.

Tella scored Leverkusen’s second goal on the night, his maiden strike in the UEFA Champions League.

The winger also missed a number of scoring chances in the game.

“It’s frustrating that I missed more than I probably should have but I scored and we won and we’ve qualified, that’s the main thing,” he added.
