EPL: My dad is Nigerian – Crystal Palace winger, Agbinone on playing for Super Eagles

Crystal Palace winger, Asher Agbinone, has revealed that he is eligible to play for two other national teams apart from England.

According to him, he is qualified to play for Nigeria through his father and the Republic of Congo where his mom hails from.

The winger, 19, has not been capped at international level by any of the three countries he is eligible for.

Agbinone joined the Eagles at U9 level and has progressed through the ranks to make his Premier League debut off the bench against Nottingham Forest in October 2024.

He made his home debut as a substitute in Crystal Palace’s 2-0 loss to Fulham in the Premier League.

Speaking to Palace TV, Agbinone stated: “South London is a very diverse place. My mom’s from Congo, my dad is from Nigeria.

“Whenever someone asks me where I am from, I’ll tell them where I am from probably. I can never forget where I am from, it shaped who I am today.”
