Kano police arrest wife, associates of wanted Chadian terrorist

The Kano State Police Command has taken into custody the wife and associates of Ahmad Adam Abba, a wanted Chadian terrorist accused of orchestrating the killing of 17 people in the Republic of Chad.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano, Salman Dogo Garba, disclosed this while addressing journalists on Friday.

He stated that the suspect had been planning to establish a terrorist base in the state before fleeing Nigeria.

“The wanted Chadian suspected terrorist escaped out of Nigeria, but we have successfully apprehended three of his associates, including his wife, another Chadian named Jibrin Mohammed, 42, and a Nigerian,” Garba said.

According to the commissioner, the arrests followed intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling any potential terrorist network in the state.

“Acting on one of the intelligence reports, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered, and discreet investigations are in progress,” he revealed.

Garba reassured the public that the police command had intensified surveillance and intelligence gathering across Kano to prevent any security breaches.

“Our teams are collaborating closely with other intelligence agencies and the communities to ensure that we identify any suspicious activities or individuals who may pose a security threat,” he stated.

He added that police patrols had been increased in vulnerable areas, and the command’s public relations unit would continue to educate residents on the importance of reporting suspicious activities.

“It is vital that we foster trust and cooperation between the police and the communities we serve. This partnership is essential in combating crime and preventing any emerging security threats,” he said.

The arrested suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue into their links to the wanted terrorist.
