Bundesliga: Boniface pledges loyalty to Leverkusen after botched Al Nassr move

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has said he is entirely focused on playing for the Bundesliga club following his botched transfer to Al Nassr.

Al Nassr pulled out of the deal to sign the Nigerian international despite having already reached an agreement with Leverkusen. The Saudi club had also agreed on personal terms with Boniface.

Stefano Pioli’s side instead signed Aston Villa and Colombia forward Jhon Duran.

Boniface returned to training at Leverkusen on Thursday and is now in contention to feature against TSG Hoffenheim this weekend.

“Transfer rumours are normal in football. It’s always flattering when big clubs show interest, but my focus right now is 100% on Bayer Leverkusen,” he told SportsBoom.

“A lot of calculations have also happened here and there, but I love playing here, and I want to give my best to the team. What happens in the future will happen, but for now, my mind is only on helping Leverkusen achieve our goals.”

The 23-year-old has scored eight goals in 15 league appearances for Die Werkself this season.
