NCAA revokes operation certificates of Eastwind Aviation Logistics Services, Omni-Blu Aviation

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has revoked the air operator certificates of Eastwind Aviation Logistics Services Limited and Omni-Blu Aviation.

This was contained in a statement the agency shared on its official X handle, saying the move is part of efforts to “further sanitize the aviation industry”.

Media Talk Africa reported back in October 2024 how a helicopter operated by Eastwind Aviation crashlanded in the Atlantic Ocean. Only one passenger, out of the eight it was carrying, survived.

“The Authority has determined that both Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation are in violation of Part 1.2.1.5 of Nig. CARs on Falsification, Reproduction, or Alteration of Applications, Licences, Certificates, Logbooks, Reports, or Records,” the agency said.

“Part 1.2.1.5(b) of Nig. CARs provide the sanction for such fraud as revocation of the certificate.

“Consequently, their respective Air Operator Certificates OBA/AOC/12-15/002 and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 are hereby revoked.”

NCAA had recently suspended the operations of Max Air for period of three months after the firm’s aircraft crashlanded at the Mallam Aminu International Airport, Kano.

It insisted that the suspension will enable the airline appraise its internal operations.

Furthermore, NCAA assured travellers that the nation’s airspace is safe.
