University of education bill on course – Sen Binos tells Numan people

Senator Binos Yaroe, representing Adamawa South Zone in the National Assembly, has assured his people that the bill to establish the Federal University of Education, Numan, is on course.

He gave the assurance in response to growing speculation that the bill has been rejected by President Bola Tinubu.

He told a meeting of his people in Mayo-Belwa that the signing of the bill by the president was withheld only for time to make certain corrections requested by the presidency.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ feedback meeting in Mayo-Belwa, Senator Yaroe said the president identified certain errors that need to be rectified before he would give his approval.

The senator, assuring his commitment to seeing the bill through to its logical conclusion, said, “The issues will be promptly addressed, and the bill resubmitted once the Senate reconvenes.”

According to him, a key issue is an error in the assignment of land authority, as the initial draft of the bill mistakenly granted the power to allocate land for the proposed university to the state governor.

“We mistakenly assigned the power to grant land authority to the governor instead of the president, who is the rightful visitor for the institution. We will rectify this error by replacing the governor with the president in the bill,” Binos explained.

He said once the corrections are made, the bill will be resubmitted for approval, and the Federal University of Education in Numan would come to be.
