Grammys: Beyoncé earns her first ever win for ‘Album of the Year’, extends record as most awarded

Beyoncé has earned her first ever win for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.

She secured a triumphant win at the 2025 Grammys with her country album, ‘Cowboy Carter’ clinching the Album of the Year award on Sunday.

Beyoncé becomes the first black woman to win ‘Album of the Year’ at the Grammys this century.

She is the first black woman to win ‘Album of the Year’ at the Grammys since Lauryn Hill in 1999.

‘Cowboy Carter’ also won the Best Country Album of the Year, making Beyoncé the first black woman to win a Grammy award in a country category in over 50 years.

Beyoncé has extended her record as the most-awarded in the Grammys’ history with a total of 35 awards.

Last year, her husband Jay-Z openly criticised the Recording Academy’s sense of judgment, pointing out that despite Beyoncé being the most awarded person in the Grammy’s history, she has never won the Album of the Year category.
