Adamawa govt sued over creation of Fufore Emirate

The Adamawa State Government has been dragged to court over its creation of Fufore Emirate in Fufore Local government Area.
The Fufore Emirate, created by a bill passed by the state House of Assembly and signed into law by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, emerged in December 2024 among seven new chiefdoms and emirates created in different parts of the state.

The lawsuit against the creation of Fufore Emirate became public knowledge Wednesday, as the corronation ceremony of Emir of the emirate, Mohammad Ribadu, was being held at the emirate headquarters in Fufore town.

The state government has been served with documents of the suit challenging the creation of the Fufore Emirate and appointment of the new emir.

The suit was instituted by three people, namely Alhaji Musa Halilu Ahmed, Alhaji Mustapha Dahiru Mustapha, and Alhaji Mustapha Ahmadu, all seeking to determine the legality of all things pertaining the Fufore Emirate.

Media Talk Africa gathered Wednesday that the motion on notice, issued by High Court No. 4 in Yola, lists the Adamawa State Government, Governor Fintiri, the Attorney General, and Alhaji Mohammad Sani Ahmadu Ribadu (the Fufore emir) as defendants.

The applicants had earlier approached the court to halt the coronation, an ongoing exercise as this story was being done Wednesday afternoon, but the application was rejected.
