We want to play Carabao Cup final – Arteta bullish ahead of Newcastle second leg

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said his team are ready to go “full gas” against Newcastle United in their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Wednesday night.

The Gunners travel to St James Park looking to overturn a 2-0 deficit.

Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon scored for the Magpies, as they claimed a shock 2-0 win in the first leg in North London.

But Arteta is confident his team can overturn the deficit and qualify for the final.

He said: “When you compare the emotional state of the team, the manner of the defeat and how it happened, it’s different now.

“We have had some great wins, especially the last one against Man City. After this game, we have a break, it’s full gas. We will approach it the best way to be in that final.

“They are difficult games. We beat them at home quite convincingly last season but the two games this season have been very different.”

Arsenal go into game in high spirits, after thrashing Premier League champions Manchester City 5-1 on Sunday.
