EPL: Why I forced Rashford out of Man Utd – Amorim speaks on striker’s move to Villa

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has claimed that Marcus Rashford had to leave the Premier League club because he could not get him to buy into his ideas.

Rashford has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season.

The Midlands club will pay up to 75% of his wages and have the option to make the deal permanent for £40 million.

Amorim has now revealed that he exiled the 27-year-old because he couldn’t get through to him.

“What I say is I couldn’t put Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,” Amorim said.

“And sometimes you have one player who is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different. I just wish the best to Rashford and Unai Emery, and I hope they can connect because he’s a very good player.”

Rashford scored the first goal of Amorim’s era as United were held to a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town in November.

He also started matches against Everton and Viktoria Plzen.
