Kaduna: I support probe of my father’s tenure – El-Rufai’s son

Mohammed, the eldest son of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has said he has no problem with the Kaduna State government probing his father’s tenure.

However, Mohammed has called for the process be done with clear, unbiased intent.

The lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives stated this in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Saturday.

He noted that accountability is crucial, but any probe must not be about settling personal scores.

Mohammed said that investigations should not be used as a political weapon.

“If done for selfish reasons, such inquiries only harm progress,” he said.

Last year, Media Talk Africa reported that the Kaduna State House of Assembly claimed it has dug deep and unearthed a “monumental heist” carried out in the state under the guise of project execution during El-Rufai’s eight years as governor.

The Chairman, Fact-Finding Committee and Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Henry Magaji, said findings revealed several poorly executed projects, abandoned projects, and projects that exist only in the imagination of executive scammers.
