NPFL: Remo Stars overcome Kano Pillars to extend lead

Remo Stars extended their lead at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, table courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Kano Pillars.

Experienced striker Sikiru Alimi gave Daniel Ogunmodede’s side the lead after five minutes.

Alimi slotted the ball home following a superb cross from Segun Ogunribide.

Ibrahim Abubakar guided home a low ball for Remo Stars’ second goal in the 40th minute after Pillars goalkeeper parried Alimi’s shot unto his path.

Abba Adam reduced the deficit for Kano Pillars with a beautiful headed goal off Abdullahi Ali’s cross in first half stoppage time.

It was Adam’s fifth league goal of the season.

In Maiduguri, El-kanemi Warriors defeated Nasarawa United 1-0 with Umar Al Amin scoring the decisive goal one minute before the half hour mark.
