Transfer: Sergio Ramos’ wife refuses to join defender at new club

Sergio Ramos’ wife, Pilar Rubio, has decided not to join him in Mexico following a surprise move to Monterrey, Mail Sport reports.

The 38-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year contract after staying without a club for six months.

Ramos last played football in May 2024, playing the entire 90 minutes for Sevilla as they lost 2-1 to Barcelona in La Liga.

The Spaniard will wear the No 93 for Monterrey, in a tribute to his iconic goal against Atletico Madrid in the 2013-14 Champions League final.

However, according to Bild journalist Javi de Hoyos, Pilar Rubio has opted to stay in Spain for “professional reasons”.

Hoyo said: “Pilar Rubio will not move to Mexico with Sergio Ramos. Last Friday, someone close to Pilar told me that she was tired of moving.

“She went to Paris with him, then Ramos went to Seville.

“Later, she decided to go to Madrid for professional reasons. She really likes living there.”
