NPFL: Akwa stun Enyimba, Rivers United end winless streak

Akwa United stunned Enyimba 2-1 in their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL matchday 23 encounter in Uyo.

The win was the Promise Keepers’ first in eight league outings.

Jacob Ogunleye gave Akwa United the lead in the 26th minute, while Issah Mohammed levelled for Enyimba nine minutes before the break.

The hosts secured the winner through Uche Sabastine 15 minutes from time.

Akwa United climbed to 18th position with 23 points following the victory.

In Port Harcourt, Timothy Zechariah fired home the winning goal two minutes from time as Rivers United defeated Lobi Stars 1-0.

It was Finidi George’s side’s first win in six league games.

Rivers United are now third in the table with 38 points from 23 matches.
