Kano anti-corruption agency probes N20m land scam, arrests 15

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has launched an investigation into a N20 billion land scam across various parts of the state.

The commission’s chairman, Muhuyi Magaji, disclosed this while addressing journalists on Thursday in Kano.

According to Magaji, 15 suspects have been arrested, including the Registrar of the Kano State High Court, three lawyers, and four officials from the Ministry of Lands.

He further revealed that a former Deputy Sheriff and a court bailiff were also among those apprehended in connection with the fraud.

Magaji stated that the suspects allegedly attempted to bribe operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) with N2 million, but their offer was rejected.

He praised the Chief Judge of Kano State for supporting the commission’s efforts and acknowledged Governor Abba Yusuf for his firm stance against corruption.

Magaji noted that the governor had given a directive to pursue all individuals involved in the scam and assured that no one found guilty would be spared, regardless of their position.
