The Leader of Umunneochi Local Government Legislative Council, Mrs Obiageri Chukwu has been impeached by her colleagues.
She was impeached and suspended indefinitely on Thursday by the legislators.
Following Mrs Chukwu’s removal, Nwankwo Kingsley Jude Nnamdi was elected as the Leader.
A press release endorsed by the new Council Leader said the changes were effected on Thursday, even though it did not provide more details why the former leader was impeached.
But it named Principal Officers in the Council to include Joel Obumneme Uche (Deputy Leader), Mba David C- (Majority Leader), Mrs Nwafor Charity – (Deputy Majority Leader) and Ofoegbu Chukwubiko (Chief Whip).
According to the release copied to the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Umuahia, the former Leader, Mrs Chukwu is said to have been suspended indefinitely.
