Jackson makes Palmer, Chelsea miss him – Paul Merson

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has claimed that Nicolas Jackson “makes” Cole Palmer.

Merson also said that Chelsea currently miss the Senegal international, who is recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained a few days ago.

This comes after Chelsea’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Brighton on Friday.

“They miss Jackson,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“Palmer makes Jackson, and Jackson makes Palmer.

“People will say, ‘Don’t be silly; Palmer’s an unbelievable player,’ but you are only as good as the players you are playing with.

“He’s got no movement, so what happens is if Jackson doesn’t make those runs — he’s a willing player who stretches the game — then Palmer comes in and gets the ball.

“Now Nkunku comes short, Palmer comes short, and everything just closes up.”
