All hands must be on deck to reclaim power in 2027 - PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has scheduled its governorship primary for April 5 ahead of the November 8 general elections in Anambra.

The party’s chairman in the state, Chidi Chidebe, disclosed this in a timetable made available to journalists in Awka on Tuesday.

According to the timetable, the congress to elect three-man ad hoc delegates from wards will take place on March 20 and 21, while the local government area delegates’ election will be held on March 27.

The party also stated that the last day for the withdrawal and substitution of candidates would be June 2.

Chidebe said the nomination form for three-man ad hoc delegates is priced at N50,000, while the national delegate form costs N150,000.

He added that the expression of interest form is pegged at N5 million, while the governorship nomination form costs N35 million.

In line with the party’s constitution, Chidebe stated that female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) are exempted from paying for nomination forms.

“Also, youths below 40 years are required to purchase the Expression of Interest form but will receive a 50 per cent discount on the nomination form,” he said.
