US: Elon Musk’s DOGE says it has found $55 billion in savings

Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, has claimed that it has saved American taxpayers $55 billion in less than a month.

In a post via their official website, DOGE said that money was saved by canceling or renegotiating leases and contracts, selling assets, cancelling grants, finding regulatory savings, making programmatic changes to the government and reducing the workforce.

“Let’s balance the budget! DOGE’s total estimated savings are $55 billion, which is a combination of fraud detection/deletion, contract/lease cancellations, contract/lease renegotiations, asset sales, grant cancellations, workforce reductions, programmatic changes, and regulatory savings,” DOGE’s post partly read.

“This will initially be updated twice per week; over time, the website will improve and the updates will converge to real-time.”

This is coming after a federal Judge Tanya Chutkan in Washington, DC, heared arguments over whether to temporarily block Musk and DOGE from accessing federal data systems at different executive branch agencies

Recall that United States President Donald Trump had backed Musk and DOGE to swung into action to cut costs across the country’s agencies.

The Republican backed Musk and his team to find hundreds of billions, of dollars of fraud and abuse in the agencies.
