Champions League: We’ll rise again – Haaland breaks silence after Man City’s elimination

Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland has broken his silence after his side’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League.

Haaland said Pep Guardiola’s side will rise again, adding that they remain as one.

The Norway international was not part of the squad that was defeated 3-1 against Real Madrid in the Champions League playoff second leg tie at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Haaland had featured in the first leg last week as Real Madrid defeated Man City 3-2 at Etihad Stadium.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking in his pre-match interview before Man City’s clash with Real Madrid, said Haaland was not close to starting the game against the Los Blancos due to a knee problem.

However, reacting to the loss, Haaland in a tweet on Thursday, urged City to learn from the defeat to Madrid.

“We remain as one, sometimes you have to experience this in life and learn from it, you can’t always win. We’ll rise again together,” Haaland wrote.

Haaland is among the top scorers in the Champions League this season with eight goals to his name.

The 24-year-old will hope to recover in time to face Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend.
