Bakole to fight Parker as Daniel Dubois falls ill ahead of title defence

Martin Bakole looks set to fight Joseph Parker on Saturday night after Daniel Dubois fell ill just two days before their highly anticipated world heavyweight title bout in Saudi Arabia.

According to Sky Sports, Bakole is flying to Riyadh as a last-minute replacement.

Dubois is understood to have a fever and missed the press conference on Thursday night to be evaluated by a doctor.

Parker has confirmed that he is ready to proceed with the fight, and his team has accepted a last-minute bout with Bakole.

Bakole’s promoter, BOXXER, posted on social media: “Parker v Bakole is on.”

Promoter Ben Shalom said: “The flights have been checked, everything is ready to go, the team is ready to go.”

However, Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, is awaiting a final decision, expected on Friday.

“Unfortunately, Daniel is being evaluated by a doctor. When we have more news, we will share it with you and provide an update,” Warren said.
