EPL table: Arsenal fail to cut Liverpool’s lead with shock West Ham defeat

Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes are all but over, following a 1-0 defeat to West Ham on Saturday.

The Gunners came into the game knowing that victory will cut Liverpool’s lead at the top to five points.

And although they dominated most of the early exchanges, it was the visitors who took the lead in the 44th minute.

Jarrod Bowen snuck into Arsenal’s penalty area to head in the only goal of the game from an Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross.

Mikel Arteta’s men continued to press in the second half, but Myles Lewis-Skelly was then sent off for a last-man tackle.

The defeat means Liverpool remain eight points clear and can extend the lead when they travel to face champions Manchester City on Sunday.
